The Simple Life :: A Super Cute, Super Sweet, Fat Quarter Shop Giveaway

Hi there! I hope you all have been well. I got some very exciting news on Friday. We had our ultrasound and found out we are having a little girl. I have never found out what I'm having before, and never thought I would, because after going through labor I think it is such a sweet surprise. But we were all there and I just had a very strong urge to know. This is probably our last baby so I thought why not try something different. It was just as exciting as finding out after labor. So now I have another sweet little girl to make dresses, dolls, purses and cute little quilts for. The first thing my son said when we found out was "Dad, we're going fishing!"

In other exciting news, my friend Tasha's new fabric line for Riley Blake, The Simple Life, has shipped and is in shops!!! I know most of you quilty people (especially those who love aqua and red) know who Tasha is and love her illustrations, embroideries and all the little lovelies she makes. I love this fabric line and I can't wait to get mine and make those sweet little girl things I mentioned before.

Fat Quarter Shop has generously offered to giveaway a layer cake of Tasha's new The Simple Life line to one lucky reader. Just leave a comment on this post and I will use RNG to pick a winner next Monday. If you feel like it (because I read every comment) tell me what you would make with this if you win, or your favorite girly name, or just say hey, or all of the above!

Have a great week! I'm hoping to be back Friday with the last part of the hand pieced quilt along, Binding! I finally finished the hand quilting and I can't wait to get it bound, washed, dried and crinkled!

Congratulations! God blessed our home with a bunch of boys....three to be exact...and we never got to use the name we had all picked out. She would have been Emily Christianna. I asked my dh just last night what he would name a little girl now, 14 1/2 years after our youngest was born. He is still holding strong for Em, although I am now thinking it would be nice to have an Amelia or Minuet.

Hi Erin,
the fabric is calling for a long overdue quilt for my daughter Annelina....I picked the name when I was 14 and looked through very old family pictures with my grandma and that name just stuck with me from all the names in our family.
Thanks for having this giveaway.

How wonderful to be expecting a daughter! This fabric is so very cute that I would make as many small projects -- mug rugs, potholders - as possible so that I could give them as gifts.

Jennie {Clover and Violet} said...

Adorable! My mom and I were just chatting about how darling this fabric is. I think I would make it into a patchwork dress for my baby girl's first birthday in November. Her name is Norah and if I had another girl soon I would pick Emmaline or Louisa, as long as I could get my husband to go along with it!

Erin Marie said...

Yay for girls! I'm pretty sure our next baby (due in May) is a girl as well. I didn't start sewing until my oldest (only girl so far) was almost a year, so I'm excited to be able to make all those girly things that the two boys since haven't allowed for. No idea what yet, though... But if the baby is a girl, her name will probably be Rebecca. (Though my 4-yr-old daughter wants to name her Cookie.)

Alexandra Abarca said...

Congratulations for the mom and the all the family, a nice name will be Maya or Xochilt. And I would make some the summer (star in december here).

Thanks for the giveaway.

Congratulations on the baby girl news! So exciting. I have 4 grown daughters. Wow, sometimes a handful but so much joy.
I would love to make a quilt that can be used by each of my grand kids when they snuggle on Nana's lap to read a story. I would keep it in the "grand kids" room ready to be used by the next grandchild when they come to visit.
I love so many names but the one I'm most fond of right now is Maggie after my grandma Madge.

A girly baby quilt is what I would make. I know of 2 new babies being born this spring for whom I will want to have quilts ready and since I don't know if they'll be boys or girls, I think it best to have a few baby quilts in the vault since I don't want them ALL to be "gender-neutral".

Congrats on your exciting news! Girl name of choice ... Hannah (both strong and feminine and what we named our own beloved daughter).

My favorite girl name is Grace even though it is a popular name. I love this fabric and had always hoped she would be picked up by a fabric company since I found her embroidery patterns and Spoonflower fabric about 4 years ago. I think I would like to make some hexies and zip pouches with her fabric; I am a simple girl who loves a simple life! Hope you are feeling well!!

Congratulations!! I didn't find out with my oldest, but when I was having twins I figured it was better to find out. We didn't tell anybody the names until after they were born to keep with an element of surprise. We tend to go for Irish Gaelic names in our family, but were I to not go that route, I love names like Violet (yes, big Downton Abbey fan...), Vivienne, Madeline, etc. Nothing too trendy though I suppose all of those are popular.

Thanks for the giveaway!

hennies.pennies said...

Well,I'm expecting my 4th grandchild in January, but the little one was quite shy and wouldn't give up its secret....boy or girl. It will be a surprise. If it's a girl, they've chosen the name Addison... love that!! The boy names are still being considered. Be especially blessed, Kathy

I debated between Charlotte and Hannah - we went with the first one!

Congrats on your sweet baby girl, Erin! Lovely news!
I adore Tasha's new fabrics. Just so sweet. I would use some to add into my hexagon quilt WIP and some to make pretty patchwork things for all the little girls I know :)

Congratulations! Tasha Noel's newest line is so sweet. And like you, I'm anticipating the opportunity to make something wonderful for my little girls with some of her gorgeous fabrics. After having my son as an only child for 10 years and then 2 girls in 2 years, they really are something special. Tea parties and lots of cuddly toys. They are so much fun to sew for. I hope your pregnancy goes smoothly for you. I'll keep watching your blog.
