I heard from a sewing machine dealer that a customer brought in the "felt" from under her stitching plate and wanted to replace it. Honest!! No, it wasn't me!!! At least I don't think so.
Holy crap! I've purchased several used and abused vintage machines and I have to say I've never seen one with as much lint. Nothing a vacuum cleaner can't fix. ;D
I now regularly clean under the throat plate. After my sewing machine serviceman pulled out a piece of felted wool (made by me when I never cleaned it out). I took in my machine because the throat plate seemed to bulging somewhat...
That just means it's used and loved, right? This is reality- I love it! :) Taking out little bits of lint isn't as satisfying as a whole lot of it, I say.

Whoa!!! Thats quite the dust buffalo you've got going in your poor loving little machine there. ;) Better not feed it anymore, they get unruly.
