Little Ruby Quilt Along ~ Part One

Hello Quilty friends! Today I am so excited to announce that Fat Quarter Shop is kicking off their newest Quilt Along, Little Ruby! This gorgeous quilt, designed by Camille Roskelley of Thimble Blossoms, was made with their FREE pattern and the Little Ruby fabric collection by Bonnie & Camille. You can use any fabrics you would like for the QAL.

Here is one of the Jelly Rolls I'm using.

Here is the background fabric (aqua dots), backing fabric (whited with pears & cherries) and the binding fabric (red gingham)! I love the way they look together! I am attempting to make the bonus quilt too! That is what the back stack of fabric is for.

The quilt is really pretty! I've made this block several times for quilts in the past. But the construction of this quilt is much faster than the way I made mine before. This time I'm using the Creative Grids rulers that are suggested in the pattern.

These are the two Creative Grids rulers that were used to make this quilt: Creative Grids Hexagon Trim Tool and Creative Grids 60 degree Double Strip Ruler, which need to be purchased separately from the quilt kit.

Here is the schedule for the quilt along below:

  Quilt Along schedule:
5/30/16 - Part One: Getting Started (Fabric Requirements & Cutting)
6/13/16 - Part Two: Star Blocks
6/27/16 - Part Three: Quilt Assembly
                                                         7/11/16 - Finished Quilts!

Pretty Playtime Quilts ~ Dragonfly Block

Good morning! Today I'm so excited I get to share the first block for the Pretty Playtime Quilt Along with Fat Quarter Shop.

This is the Dragonfly Block! This was a really fun block to make. So cute and easy to put together. There are quite a few pieces but the instructions in the book are great. I love how the block was constructed.

I used to collect dragonfly decorations and things. I thought it was fitting that I was making this block for the quilt along. I was thinking of making a mini with 4 of these Dragonfly blocks. Wouldn't that be cute?
I used Strawberry Biscuit by Elea Lutz for the dragonflies and Riley Blake Swiss Dots (Aqua) for the background fabric. I love Elea's fabric and her book is just the sweetest. I can't wait to see all of these blocks being made!

Pretty Playtime Quilts Quilt Along ~ Week 1

Good morning! Today Fat Quarter Shop is announcing a sew along for the super sweet new book by the very talented Elea Lutz, Pretty Playtime Quilts.

I am happy to be one of the quilters participating in the quilt along! I am a big fan of Elea's work. The book uses Elea's fabric line Strawberry Biscuit but you can choose any fabric you would like to quilt along. I will be using Strawberry Biscuit. I think it is such a cute fabric line.
I know a lot of us like kits and you can find more info on kits for the quilt along on The Jolly Jabber.

You will also need a copy of the book if you don't already have one. The quilt along will be focusing on the Fairy Garden Sampler Quilt from the cover.

Here is the line-up of quilters participating in the quilt along. It will be lots of fun. I hope you join in! I'll be back next week with the first block the quilt along!
