The Sun is Shining

I got the chance to baste my Sweet quilt. I used a cafeteria sized table to baste it, as many of you suggested. I think it's gonna have some puckers because I couldn't get it as secure as I do when I floor baste. I'm going to quilt slowly and adjust as I need too. It's the biggest quilt I've made, like a queen/king size. Wish me luck.

I made Kerry a house block for the cocorico bee. She gave this link to a free pattern. I used the paper piecing technique. I think it came out really cute. I could totally see a whole quilt made of scrappy houses. This was a fun block.

I painted some clothes pins with the Valspar Tranquility paint I mentioned in the prior post. I love this color!

We've been spending a lot of our time outdoors. Planting gardens, flowers and veggie. Hyacinths have always been one of my favorite flowers. Don't they smell wonderful? Everything is starting to come alive. I love this time of year. We have always gardened and started seeds but this is our first year starting asparagus from seed. They actually germinated rather quickly. It was so exciting watching them pop up through the soil. Now just three years until a good harvest!

My father-in-law was visiting this weekend and he and my husband built us a deck from repurposed lumber. A friend of ours asked if we wanted an out building he was gonna tear down. So my husband and his dad took it apart and salvaged all of the good lumber. It was really cool to watch them work together. My FIL is an excellent carpenter.  My husband's not half bad either ;)

I hope the sun is shining on you wherever you may be!

Hyacinths are my FAVORITE spring flower. Ours are in the ground though and usually the slugs get to most of them before they fully bloom.
I love, love, love your house block! I am really a sucker for house quilts though...big time.
Enjoy your sunshine! I think I'm going to try and till up some of the garden this afternoon. It's really windy here...hope I don't get blown away.

Cute post!

You are right, that's the perfect paint color. I'm considering painting my kitchen table and chairs. Now to find the time.

Cute house!

I wish I were better at gardening. Out of 6-8 edibles I planted we've gotten 3 pathetic strawberries and we now have 5 baby green tomatoes. I'm hoping I can get some good tomatoes this year and then next year get tomatoes and another successful edible. Baby steps!

Wow I wish I could see grass or even bare dirt but as I peer out my window I see about 2 ft of snow in my front yard and 3 to 4 ft in the back yard. North Dakota didn't get the memo that it should be spring. Send some sun my way please.

Love the scrappy house! I need to start a quilt soon.

Your house block is adorable, love the fabrics you chose, so sweet! Purple hyacinths are so pretty and smell oh so lovely! Your seedlings make me want to garden! Getting reclaimed lumber is a treat it is hard to come by! Enjoy your Spring with your little one!

Love your little house block! I have yet to try paper piecing, kind of intimidated by it, but will try to find a local class maybe in the Fall.
Keep on inspiring! <3

So pretty. :) We are currently in a winter storm warning. 9 more inches on top if the 20 we got last week. Welcome to MN. It is perfect quilting weather, though!
