After I calmed down from button making yesterday (yes, I made more!) I made the Prettified Pincushion from Ayumi's book Patchwork, Please. I love how it turned out. I definitely will be making another one during the Zakka Along hosted by Debbie and Lindsey. But I had to make one now, too, because they are just too cute. This one is a little "lumpy". I used leftover batting pieces to fill the pincushion. It's okay, but I think I'll get some walnut shells or even just some polyfil for the next one. I have used rice in the past to fill pincushions too. I love the weight it gives them. What do you use in your pincushions (if you make them)?

I usually just use some polyfil, but sometimes I will also add some dried lavendar left over from my wedding so it will smell nice for at least a little bit :)
ohdear, that is the cutest pincushion I have seen! ~sigh~ I've used rice in pincushions...otherwise just polyfil. You're rockin'!
So cute Erin! I've used rice for the pincushions I've made, but I hate sewing them shut and have given up on pincushions. When my current one bites the dust I might just buy a boring one from the store!
The buttons are so cute and so is this pincushion! I simply must make it. I have the book. I just don't have the time. Love yours though. I usually use the crushed shells but I've used rice, too.
Oh my! This is so adorable and probably the cutest one I've seen!! Love it and your buttons!
That little birdie is so cute! I use rice, really cheap rice. I do wonder what would happen if it got wet though!
That is the most adorable pin cushion. I love that little bird button. I don't have any advice on the filling but I'll be interested to read what others have to say.
I love pincushions, actually I am rather obsessed with them. This one is so pretty, I feel a need to get the book. Most of mine I fill with polyfill, I like them to feel soft.
Your pincushion is adorable, the covered button is a sweet touch!!
I use leftover fabric, all of the tiny pieces too small for even string quilts.
It's just so darling!
It's really cute
I use the walnut shells and really like them!
Your pincushion is adorable and the cute little button adds just the right touch. I love pincushions and needlebooks and have a collection which I am always adding to. I use polyester which works well for me.
I usuassy use some old polyfill, but here I learned to use rice! Great idea, have a box with some old rice that I will use for this! Love the pincushion!!!
I can't wait to make one of these. Yours is darling!
I use washed sheep fleece. We live on an island and sometimes the pins and needles get rusty. I don't wash out all the lanolin, and this prevents the needles getting rusty. Love your pincushion.
Such a sweet pincushion! I just made my first one from this book, and there will be more. I love each one I've seen, and that's what made me want the book. I would have bought it quicker if your version was on the cover. :-)
