Floral Hues by Sue Daley

Hello! Today I get to share with you the quilt I made with Floral Hues by Sue Daley for Riley Blake Designs. Floral Hues is a cotton lawn fabric and it feels light and so soft. It would be perfect for apparel like an infinity scarf or a pretty top like the one that Sachiko made with this fabric. I decided to make a quilt and I used Riley Blake Confetti Cotton Solid as the background fabric and it worked really well with the cotton lawn.

There is a really fun mix of vibrant, pretty and bold colors and prints in this collection. I wanted to make this vintage Dutch Tulips quilt block for a while and I thought these fabrics would pair so well with that block to make a cute quilt.

I'm really pleased with the way the quilt turned out! I used the floral pink print for a small border and then some scrappy 4-patches as the next border.

another little Floral Hues project using that pink!!!
I love the pinks in this collection! Here's another little project I started that great pink print!

I bound the quilt with the bold aqua floral print.

I used the old trusty free-motion stippling to quilt it. I'm always happy with it. I used the black and white print from the collection for all of the circles in the blocks to tie them together since I made them really scrappy looking.

I used my favorite print in the collection to add diamonds in the sashing in place of cornerstones. Just something to anchor it all together. I really enjoyed working with these fabrics and I think the quilt turned out pretty much how I wanted it too, happy and bright! Like flowers and sunshine!

Crocheted Cathedral Window Squares

I've been crocheting a little in the evening. I can't sit still and do nothing at night and hand-sewing is on hold until I get a stronger pair of readers. I've been wanting to make this pattern for a long time. I pinned it years ago but when I went to start crocheting them I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for as the one I pinned was not quite right. Then I found this wonderful you tube tutorial by Potter and Bloom and she has a link to the written version too.  I thought I would pass the info along just in case any of you were interested in making them too!!!

Happy Sewing! (and crocheting)

Meringue Quilt

Good morning! Today I'm sharing this quilt I made using Fat Quarter Shop's new book Cake Mix Quilt Book and Miss Rosie's Cake Mix Recipe packs.

I used a Flower Mill layer cake for my quilt.

I chose the Meringue Cake.

They were fun blocks and each paper from the cake mix papers made two at a time.

I made a smaller version for my quilt and only included the aqua, pink, red and grey fabrics from the fabric line.

I think it turned out so pretty!

This was super simple to sew together and the cake mix book and papers would be fun for a beginner to use too. They help you make such precise pieces like the half-square triangles.

I used the multi-colored gingham stripe from Flower Mill for the binding. I am so happy about that! It's the perfect binding print.

I used a grey Bella Solid for the backing and I stipple quilted it!

This was a super fun quilt! Thanks to Fat Quarter Shop for asking me to sew along!

Geranium Dresses

The 2 dresses above I made a couple of years ago.
I didn't do much piecing or quilting over the summer but I did make my 2 youngest some pretty Geranium Dresses.

I love the pattern and had made a couple of dresses previously but the expansion pack was released and it inspired me to make several more. I have wanted to do a post on these for a while now but it is seriously hard to get them all rounded up for a picture because my girls wear these all the time. Like almost everyday. You might be able to see some signs of wear if you look closely, but don't, haha ;) Here they are below.

This is the first one I made this summer. It was from the original pattern, cap sleeves, neck notch. Fabric is Vintage Market By Tasha Noel (Riley Blake).

I had to try the Peter Pan collar from the expansion pack. I absolutely love it and I use it all the time with these dresses. This one also has the fitted short sleeve. Fabric is Lecien Retro 30's.

This one is basically the same except for length. This is tunic length. Fabric is Posy by Aneela Hoey
 (Moda).

Same as above. Bigger size, collar the same color as the dress. Oh, this one has a zipper instead of buttons. We prefer the buttons. Fabric is Indian Summer by Benartex.

This is the 3/4 length sleeve option.  This dress as well as the Posy tunic have a fully lined bodice which I don't do anymore. I just make an interfacing piece for the collar now. Fabric is The Good Life by Bonnie & Camille (Moda).

Same 3/4 length sleeve but in a bigger size. Fabric is from Walmart, Waverly? I think. This is the older of the 2 girls favorite dress!

This is the basic dress, cap sleeves, no expansion, no neck notch. Fabric is The Good Life again.

Same as above, bigger size. Same fabric, different print. These got worn the most in warm weather and now with a sweater. Fabric is The Good Life.

AND my absolute favorite one is the basic dress, cap sleeve, and a matching Peter Pan collar. Love this one so much. The fabric is a favorite too! Fabric is Aunt Grace, Simple Sampler by Judie Rothermel (Marcus Brothers).

I have at least 4 more planned and will continue to make more for my girls til they outgrow the pattern. It's so simple and I just love the fit on them. They do too. Win, win!!!

Hope you all are doing well.
