Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt Week 8 Blocks13 - 16

I got caught up on my farmer's wife blocks yesterday. It had been 2 weeks since I made one and was falling behind. I really love these blocks. I like to cut the fabric for a few blocks at a time and then sew them up at one time. And I'm still really enjoying the Strawberry Fields fabric. I did have a few issues with size this time but I think it will be fine. I used my old singer for 2 blocks and they were smaller than the others. I rely on the markings on my machine and walking foot more than I realized.

I caught up on some bee blocks too!

This will become a kitchen aide for Lauree for the cocorico bee.  This block is really fun! I ♥ it!

I also finished 2 blocks for Erin, her month is July for the Aqua and Red Bee! I loved the fabrics for these!

Thanks for the kind comments about the last little quilt I really appreciate them. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Stay cool (or warm) depending on where you are :)

Garden Party...

Against my better judgement I'm posting a picture of the latest sketch applique I made. I am just not real sure about this one. The binding is all wrong. It's just not doing it for me. I love the crochet lace on the table, the bunting is super cute but the rest not so much. This was intended for a swap but this is not up to swap standards to me. So I'll make another with some changes. Then I think I'll put these to rest for a bit and catch up on bigger quilts, bees and things. I appreciate when I have a creative streak but when it's gone, it's gone, ya know?

Birdies Holding a Quilt

I hope y'all aren't tired of seeing these yet. This is the latest one. This doesn't look exactly how I pictured it,  but I do like it. I was going to make the quilt be an actual quilt, you know, a little 3-D action, sew the top part onto the line and let the rest flow... like a quilt on a line. But I went with just sewing the whole thing down. The squares in the small quilt measure 1/2 inch. The smaller hexagons on the tree are 1/4 inch.

I had a difficult time choosing binding for this one. I MADE a few different bindings and didn't like them. I finally settled on this print and I think it was the best choice. All in all I love it in all it's imperfectness! I really enjoy the process of making them and that is what is matters, right?

3 Lttle Birds....

I can't stop with the birdies! I love this one. The colors, the size, everything. I pulled my American Jane fabrics out and used them in the patchwork border. I think they look great with the tree and birds. I love the vintage look of these prints.

I used 1/2 inch hexagons. The littlest little bird is smaller than a dime. I have so many ideas swirling around in my head with these little peeps, so you'll probably see a couple more of these soon. I am neglecting my Farmer's Wife blocks and other quilty things but these NEED to be made :)

Happy!

Tweet Tweet more Free Motion Applique..

I made a new mini yesterday. Can I just say that I love it?!  I know I say that a lot but it's true. This color combination is really appealing to me. Pretty much anything combined with aqua is appealing to me. It had been a while since I made some sketchy birds and I have a lot of fun making them so I made some :)  I have an idea for another one that's a little different and I'm really excited about it. I think I will work on that this week.

I love the patchwork border. The other ones I made like this had no borders and I quilted the background of the birds. For this one I left the birds alone and quilted the patchwork with straight lines. One more to add to my "someday" quilt wall.

Sweet Progress...

(already danced on by little feet this morning)

I got all of my block finished last night for my SWEET quilt. I stayed up until 2 this morning but it needed to be done. I'm at the point where I walk into my sewing room and stand and stare or just walk right back out. It's because I have so many projects started and I feel overwhelmed. I'm not sure why I put this one on the back burner. Once I started sewing the rest of the blocks together I got into a nice groove and was loving them again. I hope to get the sashing cut and top put together this weekend. No doubt caffeine will be involved!

On a non-quilt related but just as SWEET note my Mother's Day cupcakes were on  The Cupcake Blog yesterday. So I got that going for me :)

String Quilt Finished!

Yes! I finally finished my string quilt. It took what seemed like forever to bind this quilt. I didn't realize how much I don't sit down during the summer. But here it is in all it's stringy, quilted, bound glory :)

The quilt is on the small side but that's just fine with me. I'm really happy with it.

I used scraps for the binding too. This kept me interested while hand binding. I have plans for another, only bigger!

Little Apples Squares with Wonky Sashing...

I couldn't bring myself to cut into the layer cake. So I made these squares with wonky sashing.

I used some coordinating Konas from my stash.

These prints are adorable. They have the best shade of aqua!

Little Apples and Ruby...

I got my grubby little paws on some Little Apples by Aneela Hoey and Ruby by Bonnie and Camille. I have been waiting (maybe not so) patiently for these to come out. So much prettier in real life. I love them and can't wait to make something with them.

Today is our 3rd day of absolutely gorgeous weather.

But these beauties are doing a number on my allergies!
