1 – 200 of 502 Newer› Newest»Oh, I think I am the first (but I simply can't resist!). I got started on my own because as a child I couldn't afford to buy myself a bag :) And so ever since I was 9 years old I have been making bags (and later clothing as well but bags are my real passion)
I love this fabric! I started quilting when I moved to the midwest last year! What better time/place to learn?
Cute fabric! I started quilting after my mother started a couple of years ago. I haven't been sewing long but I love it! It is my me time.
fantastic fabric! i started sewing as a child to design nicer pillows for my dolls, now i design better pillows for my own head :)
Lovely fabric. So, I have always been interested in quilting but have yet to make one. I currently have a bundle of fabric and am just about ready to pull the trigger. As for sewing, my mom taught me and I do as much as I can with two little boys running around the house.
Nice fabric!
My mother got me interested in sewing. I'm thankful for all she has taught me, and we're still learning together.
I love the fabrics you've chosen! I just started to learn how to quilt and recently took a hand quilting class which I loved!
Great fabrics! Loving the oranges right now!! :)
The fabric is just super sweet! My mother has always been sewing ever since I can remember and now my sister has taken after her. I'm just starting, so I would love to win this more for my sister cos she'll put it to great use! Thanks so much!

Lovely! I learned from my mom...who learned from her mom...and so on for many generations! I have quite a sewing/quilting/knitting (etc!) heritage.
lovely selection of fabrics. Would love to add them to MY stash! Thanks for participating in this fun day!
Thank you for the lovely giveaway!
My mum definitely got me interested in sewing, although not until I was in my late teens, really. I quite enjoyed it as a young child, but then secondary school textiles classes completely killed the joy from it for me!
Love them! I have always loved quilting - I've only recently started myself and it's a learning process but I have very fond memories of sitting under the many quilts my grandmother's group worked on when I was a kid. Its one of my favourite memories of her and the one thing that I associate very strongly with her=quilting. I could definitely incorporate these wonderful fabrics into my projects.
i started sewing in highschool ec class.
xx
I'd love to win some fabric...
I love the feeling of achievement when you complete a project, especially if people comment nicely on it. Unfortunately, I am self taught but the internet and blogs like yours are a great source of inspiration and help. Please count me in, I already have plans for the lovely fabric! Thank you x

My mom bought me a sewing machine while I was pregnant with my first son..so I figured, why not try and make a quilt for him!
Those are lovely fabrics, thanks for this giveaway. I started out as a cross-stitcher, (no, not a person who sews in a bad mood!) and then a friend wanted to visit a LQS while staying with me and that was it, addicted!
these fabrics are so beautiful...apart and together. thanks for being so generous and sharing.
I've been sewing since I was tiny, I think I have my mum most of all for giving me sewing skills. Gorgeous fabrics x

to answer your question, my mom bought a sewing machine to work on the drapes for our living room. i've been fascinated ever since and now have full custody of the sewing machine :)
great giveaway! I sewed a little in high school - I took a sewing class. Then I started to sew again a couple years ago after a trip to Liberia Africa. While I was there I became friends who was a tailor for a living and I loved the fabric lappas there. So I bought a bunch of lappas and vowed to make a quilt with it to remember my time there. I have not made the quilt but I have made many other things since then and I am so glad I picked it back up.
My mom taught me to sew when I was 10 or 11. I've started sewing more in recent years because I've been so in love with the fabrics I have seen recently.
Love the fabric your giving away! So generous =)
So glad I found your blog. Looking forward to reading you!
Such pretty fabrics! My Grandma taught me to sew by guiding me through a few garments growing up. I've always loved quilting, but just finally took a class last year.
I just found your blog too~ and I'll be back! I started sewing when my Dad came home with an old sewing machine he found at a sale for little or nothing~ guess I was bugging my Mom to use hers too much. :-)) I think I was 7 or 8 at the time. It kept me entertained for years!
Those are beautiful. I've been crafting since I was a kid, and inspired by my mother's quilts :)
Love these fabrics! i ahve been sewing for over 40 years and have never gotten tired of fabric.
Love the fabric. My late-grammie taught me how to quilt. I would help her tie the quilts because she never machine quilted them.
I got into sewing when I was finishing up with high school and made the decision to go to fashion design school, but I have been crafting for as long as I can remember :)
Love the giveaway fabric. I have wanted to learn how to quilt since I was young (I am a grandma now), but I just moved next door to someone with a quilt shop in her basement, so that gave me the push I needed and I love it.

Love those fabrics!

What a lovely colour combination! I'd love to win these. I've always loved needlecrafts but got involved with patchwork and quilting in the last 2 years when I started attending a club run by a friend of mine.

My mom has three sisters and one by one they picked up quilting. I was a student at the time and didn't have the interest, time, or funds. But once I got out of school, I made up for lost time. I can't count the number of projects I have going (am afraid to, really!). Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Crazy-cute giveaway! Thank you for putting together this fresh-cut hope-filled awesome prize!
I started a quilt by hand 20 years ago and said "yuck" then I started again last fall with my machine and I'm happy as a clam!

Great giveaway, thanks! I come from a very long line of sewists/crafters so I think it might just be in my blood ;)
I don't really know how I got started, but I think the mathematical geometry of it really keeps me interested (boring I know) . . . I guess it's a way for my very analytical brain to be creative. Thanks for the chance to win!
This is a fantastic giveaway!! My grandmother and mother sewed/knitted/crocheted while I was growing up. When I moved out on my own, I took my mother's old sewing machine with me, and now I love making things for our home and family.
Ooh fun! I have been sewing since I was 8, but only started quilting (for reals anyway) a year ago thanks to Dana at ORBCO! Jacque and i got bitten by the but badly then! LOL
Oh so lovely fabric you are giving away! Thanks so much! I got interested in quilting through a good friend who just infected me with the virus! I am so glad!
Wow, I'm deeply impressed!

I started quilting when I was in hospital for quite a while...
love your choices!
I've always wanted to learn how to sew and finally got a machine about 8 months ago. My mom taught me. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I learned to sew from my mother and grandmother, but didnt get interested in quilting until I was in my 20's. I gave up all other forms of sewing, as I work full time and have limited time. Quilting is my obsession.
My momma taught me to sew as a preteen. She has a fabric obsession to rival all others.
I started making baby quilts when my brothers started having babies a few years ago.
I just got started sewing in the last year (27 years old now) after coming across some great quilting blogs. Now I'm so addicted to fabric my husband is scared :)
I learned to sew from my mother when I was a kid but my love of quilting was inherited by my grandmother. I can remember her taking me to the quilting bees when I was a kid. I would sit under the quilts during the bee just being mesmerized by the whole process.
Those are such delightful looking fabrics! I began sewing and crocheting and embroidering when I was a wee little girl . . . my dear momma taught me. I've enjoyed it ever since!
Thank you for the giveaway!
Blessings,
Emily Rose @ SimplyVintagegirl.com
Beautiful fabrics. Thanks for the chance. I really began sewing when I had kids of my own to sew for. My mom taught me to sew when Iw as a kid though. crafts(dot)petersen(at)gmail(dot)com
Great giveaway! Please count me in! A year ago I discovered quilting on the Internet. Since then I try to learn as much as I can.
Thanks for the chance to win! I learned to quilt from my childhood best friend's mother... I then taught my own mom.
I actually only do hand stitching. I just decided to try it one day and found how wonderfully relaxing it is!!!
Thanks for the giveaway! I got interested in sewing when I was a size 20 and couldn't find decent vintage clothes in my size, so I bought some vintage sewing patterns and went from....now a size 8 I'm still going!
Thanks! I taught myself how to sew by reading blogs.
I've always loved crafts, but blogs got me back into them (and hooked on knitting and quilting) just after my son was born.

I started quilting seven years ago at the urging of my MIL. It has been a love affair between quilting & fabric ever since. Now I couldn't imagine my life without quilting & creating.

Hi. Well my first sewing memory is making cross stitch mats in craft lessons at school....my mum still has a range of them in a draw at home. I really started as an adult after having my daughter and I wanted her to have some nice homemade items like play mats, bags etc.
I'm just now getting started in sewing! I saw a beautiful quilt on a blog and a pennant banner and that got the wheels churning for things I could make for my son and baby#2 on the way. I'm working on both ideas right now. :-)
smooze13@aol.com
My seventh grade home ec teacher taught me to sew, but my grandmother is my inspiration - she sewed everything and beautifully.
What gorgeous fabric, thanks for giving us all the opportunity! I learned a little sewing from my mom and a little from my Girl Scout Leader growing up, but I was never interested. Everything I've learned to do since getting a machine two years ago has been self-taught/trial and error. Thanks again!
Beautiful fabric! I recently started my very first quilt, although I've been admiring the quilts my mom makes for years. I'm doing the off the grid 9 patch from Moda Bake Shop with Hunky Dory charm squares.
Thanks for the great giveaway!
Love your fabrics. Somehow I ran across a Moda Chez Moi jellyroll on the internet and fell in love with the fabric, so I taught myself to make a quilt. Now I'm hooked.
My Mom taught me how to thread the sewing machine when I was young. I wanted to sew some clothes for my doll.
Thanks for the chance!
liesl52(at)gmail(dot)com
I learned to sew at a class when I was very young. I then stopped for many years. Now that I have kids, I enjoy a little "me" time with my sewing machine!
Gorgeous fabrics! My mom taught me how to sew when I was little but i just got back into it a couple years ago, I guess out of boredom? :)
Pretty fabrics!
My mom taught me to sew when I was a little kid, but then I stopped doing it for a long time after college. I just got back into it when I friend introduced me to quilting this past summer. I'm so happy to be sewing again!
These are so pretty. I'd love to win!
Beautiful fabric! I remember watching my Mom sew from a young age, and she used to dictate to me what she was doing, so by the time I was old enough to sit down at a machine I already felt like I knew how to use it.
I just love these fabrics. My mom was a sewist, though she never taught me. I'm self taught. :)
Great fabrics, and what a beautiful blog!
I am pretty much ADDICTED to sewing. Hi, my name is Erin and I am an arts and crafts addict. My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 4 and I dabbled for many years but after I got married I started sewing and creating and really getting obsessed with fabric, its been all downhill from then on.
LOVE this fabric collection! i need to hire you as my personal fabric selector!
vickienae(at)gmail(dot)com
great giveaway! i love fabric of all sizes and colors! giveaways are so fun!
I come from a long line of quilters. My great grandma helped me sew my first quilt block when I was 10 years old.
Thank you for having a giveaway for such yummy fabric!
I learned to sew before I could read, when I was about 6 or so. My grandmother (she was an amazing seamstress) got tired of making soft toys and doll clothes for me, and thought it'd be better to just teach me to sew instead. Since then, I've spent most of my life behind a sewing machine!
kitty.vane(at)gmail.com
My grandma taught me to sew at a young age. Ever since then I have been obsessed with fabric and love to create.
Thanks for the chance to win. I've always sewed--my mom must have taught me when I was pretty young. I can remember sewing dresses for my barbies.
Lovely! I taught myself to sew, and have been interested in it for a very long time!
My grandma taught us to sew clothes for our dolls. She has also helped me to refresh my skills now that I'm sewing clothes for myself and my kids!
My dad taught me how to sew Barbie clothing. A friend taught me how to quilt when I was sick of mending for pay.
My mom taught me to sew. I also took sewing classes.
Thanks for the great giveaway. LOVE free fabric.
:)
Awesome! I've been dying for some Amy Butler fabric.
I learned to sew when I was 8 in 4-H and sewed all through school, but I really picked it up again about 3 years ago when I wanted to sew clothes for my little ones and quilts just because I like them!
Thanks for the giveaway!!

I've become a self-taught sewist. My mom sewed things for me all the time when I was a kid, but didn't have the interest to learn how to sew myself. Just in the last 6 years or so, I've been revving up to where I am now. Online tutorials are the best thing ever for the self-taught set!
Thanks for the giveaway!
I started sewing 5 years ago to help some young women at church learn--I learned too! I started quilting last year when my dear friend had a baby and I HAD to make her a quilt. :)
I've always been interested, but as adult I found these Blogs! and they have taught me so much that I gained the confidence to really start to sew!
Beautiful fabrics! Thank you for participating. I started quilting about 20 years ago.
Thanks for a chance to win great fabric :)
I just started quilting - if you can all it that, but I keep plugging away and one day I may be proud enough to show something!

michaelacking(at)gmail(dot)com
My lifelong love of textiles is why I decided to start quilting three years ago.
Great prizes! My mother taught me to sew. Sadly my aunt is a fabulous sewer (like professional) but she lived too far away.
rpar003 @ gmail.com
Awesome giveaway! My mom kinda taught me how but different blogs and the internet taught me how to sew. I started last august!!

Beautiful fabrics! I managed to get an awesome free vintage sewing machine off Craiglist and then it took me two whole years to learn how to use it!
I was 19 and moved in with my boyfriend/fiance. His mom was a SERIOUS seamstress. Sewing was her love and everything else in life was just second to creating beautiful stuff. I was an art student at the time and it was the first time in my life, surrounded by women who sewed, that I saw sewing as AN ART FORM.
I was hooked. It's an art form that you can pick up and put down, you don't have to be in a specific mood, get out a million paints, or spritz your clay. It's just there, and it's just fun.
I love sewing for my baby... and nobody taught me...
Great give away. I love sewing. I taught myself when I was pregnant with my first daughter. Since then I have taught myself more and more. Favorite thing to make is bags and dolls.
Thanks for the giveaway! My grandmother was a fantastic seamstress who taught my mom and her sisters to sew, who then taught me. I've now inherited my grandmother's fancy sewing machine (she passed away last year) and am trying to be worthy of it.
my mother taught me to sew when i was 8 or 9 years old. she's gone now but i feel her spirit with me when i sew :)

Sweet prints! I started sewing when I was seven or eight. My mama was making a large cross-stitch and my sister and I kept trying to "help" her. So she taught us how to sew on our own. ;)
Blessings,
-Breezy
I dont remember what got me started. I have always loved to sew and make things. I wish that i could share it with my family.
My mom is a fabulous seamstress and even though I didn't want any part of it when I was at home, I must have picked up the bug from her. Now I wish I had listened a lot more!
kelli_s1@yahoo.com
Great giveaway! My grandma taught me the bare basics of quilting and I taught myself the rest. I've never owned or used a machine, so i'm all by hand.
What great fabric! Thanks for the chance to work with it :)
I learned to sew a few years ago by taking lessons from a sweetheart of a lady. The kind of lady I'd like to be when I get older - not bitter, not demanding, but always giving of herself and her resources and her time. I didn't really even want to learn to sew. I honestly thought I would hate it, I only agreed to take lessons from her because I wanted to spend time with her. But I fell in love with sewing and can't seem to stop. My blog is named after her.
ooh, orange! My mom taught me to sew, starting when I was 6 years old. I was also taught by a 4-H teacher, my grandma, and a lovely high school teacher. :)
My grandmother used to sew a lot, and my mother never liked to. Sometimes my mom and I would go over and help her to hand quilt her bigger quilts (for weddings or baby showers) I always enjoyed making things and when I had my first baby I made him a baby quilt done ENTIRELY by hand as I had not access to a machine, that Christmas my mother in law (who is a sewere) got me a machine and I've been off to the races ever since!
My grandmother was a quilter. I love her quilts. I like to sew and thought I'd try my hand at quilting.
Well my Great Grandmother and Grandma quilted and sewed. I got into cause my Grandma and Mom decide I need to learn they bought me a sewing machine, fabric, quilting supplies(basics) and The book quilting for dummies. HaHa thought I never touch any of it but guess what I sew everyday. Thanks to my Grandma and Mom :)
that fabric is so pretty....my Grandma got me into quilting....she doesn't know that though since she's gone - but boy would she be honored to know that!
My mom and grandma both sewed. I think I tried cross-stitching first (thanks to Girl Scouts) but I'm not sure. Craftiness is deep in my blood, and needle and thread are my favorite medium.
Such beautiful fabric. Reminds me of lazy summer days. tatinaann@gmail.com
LOVE those fat quarters! My mom taught me basic sewing skills when I was little. Just within the last year I decided to try to make a quilt. I purchased a Moda layer cake through eBay and pieced a relatively simple quilt and quilted it by stitching in the ditch. It was a great feeling to make it and I've been hooked since!
Oh, I love this fabric!
jenlea2000@hotmail.com
Great fabrics! I've always loved sewing because I saw my mom sew as a little girl. I'm mainly self taught and started quilting as a way to be both colorful and mathematical (my other love!)
My mom taught me a bit when I was younger, but then 5 years or so ago I started up again and have mostly taught myself. It's so fun!
Thanks for the giveaway!
parknj at verizon dot net
my mom got me into quilting and she taught me just about everything I know about it. I didnt start until last summer so Im still learning.
I first asked my MIL to teach me to quilt as a way to pass the time (without STRANGLING her) during her visit after my first son was born. Thank goodness, too, because it is the only thing she and I now have in common!
I taught myself how to sew... When I turned 25 I asked for a sewing machine for my birthday. For the first 6 months, I didn't know that I was supposed to back stitch, so everything fell apart. I am a work in progress. :)
LOVE that fabric pile! I learned to sew in 6th grade home ec, been sewing ever since!
i love the polka dots! my mom taught me to sew and bought me my first sewing machine.
I love your taste in fabric!! I started sewing when I had a girl. Which has only been about 2 yrs ago! My wonderful neighbor has become our adopted grandmother and has taught me how to sew!! I am always looking for new patterns and fabrics to make her clothes!! Thanks for sharing!!
I have my mom to blame for my sewing/quilting hobby. Oh and gorgeous blogs that inspire me to try new things, and have great tutorials to follow. Thanks for the giveaway.

Fabulous fabric !!
I taught myself to sew mostly-but my Mom probably got me started :)
Be sure to stop by my blog, I'm participating in the giveaway as well :)
Taught myself - when I wanted to start making quilts and clothes for my little kiddos about 7 years ago!
My mom taught me how to sew... but I only recently (within the last 5 years) really got back into it again (now that I have a child of my own). Thank you for your generosity!
If you get a chance come check out my giveaway at http://buttonandbean.blogspot.com
I learned to sew from my mom when I was really young, but mostly only sew dresses and such. Right now I'm in the middle of making my first 9 patch quilt for my daughter's room.

pretty fabrics and ever so different from what is in my stash!
I just got into quilting. I decided to do the oldredbarn quilt along so that I could learn how. That was a year ago (and 5 quilts ago)!!!
so many beautiful fabrics! i became interested in sewing after my teacher suggested i make a quilt with batik fabrics my mom and i had dyed together. thanks for the giveaway!
I really started sewing out of necessity and then figured out its my valium. I have always sewn on the kitchen table and I would be sewing 5 inch squares together whenever I was mad and the kids would say "uh-oh, mommy is sewing squares...we better be good! lol

My Mum made us clothes when I was a kid so I guess I imbibed a bit of the sewing knowledge from her ... then I had to sew to put curtains up at the windows in our house! Thanks for the chance.

I started knitting when I was about 6. But I have only just started sewing and have been to a few local classes to learn how to use the sewing machine that I got for my 21st birthday (I will be 25 in a couple of weeks!).
I got started quilting because I couldn't bear to give away childhood clothes that were made out of such gorgeous prints and held so many memories. I'm self-taught at what I do, aside from the many books/blogs/online tutorials that are my constant inspiration.
I learned to sew for 4-H in elementary school. I hadn't used a machine at all until I had my first daughter. I just couldn't resist making cute things for her to wear!
I sewed one item in junior high(1986) and didn't sew agin until 2006, I was hooked, hard. I am self taught, with lots of ripping out stitches and potty mouth along the way, thanks.
lovely fabric! I just recently learned how to sew...trial and error...more error then trail though!
You had me at Heather Bailey... :)

My mom is an interior decorator who set up shop in our home with 4 huge heavy duty sewing machines and can make ANYTHING. so I am inspired by her. :)

I actually told myself - very firmly - I was not going to take up quilting. I have enough other hobbies to neglect, after all. But then I found a link to Oh, Fransson's quilt-a-long through PatternReview.com and... yeah.
Gorgeous FQs!
I first learned to sew as a teenager from my Mum - but I wasn't very good at it and gave up pretty quickly. About 5 years ago my Mum bought me a sewing machine for my birthday and I fell in love with sewing again and haven't looked back!
thanks for sharing your giveaway
xo
I love each of those! I got more interested in quilting when I stumbled across cluckclucksew.com one day.
Very generous giveaway! I actually started sewing about a year ago just because I thought it looked fun. I got a cheap little sewing machine and have been teaching myself from online tutorials mostly. I even made a scrub top (my proudest moment so far!) I really have been enjoying learning to quilt but recently I've been really getting into small household type items like potholders.
Thanks for the giveaway! I got into sewing by wanting to sew for my girls.
accoupons at gmail dot com
I'm a quilter and a sewer of "little things" like journal covers and wallets (donations to a holiday sale at my library). I learned to sew on my grandmother's treadle machine back when we took Home Economics in 7th grade. My mom made many of my clothes. Quilting became part of my life about 15 yrs. ago. And now I'm very taken with the modern quilts made with bright colors, solids, polka dots, large prints, etc.--after living and breathing tone-on-tone muted fabrics. Thanks for your giveaway; I'll be back to see your quilts.
I love the fabrics!
I started sewing very recently, so that I can share a hobby with my mother.
Lovely fabrics. Are you taking international entries? I don't know how I got interested in crafts. I've been doing them so long that I don't remember how I got started!
I was a self taught quilter some 30 years ago. As a newly married, I wanted to make things as gifts for others (thought it was cheaper...yikes and my time back then was at a premium with a new baby!) Anyway, from magazines I got the gist of things and traced templates and cut things out with scissors. Fast forward to pregnant with my sixth and need a night out! I took an adult ed class and was I ever bowled over with the rotary cutter! Ordered one the next day!!!! Haven't turned back unless I REALLY HAVE TO!!!!!!!
Thanks for having a giveaway. My mum taught me and my sister to sew when we were young, such a useful skill to learn. Love the fabrics!
My mom taught me, and I hope to teach my kids one day!
Can't have to much fabric can you?? It's in the blood. My mum has a quilting room full of fabrics. And my daughter collects little bits of fabric scraps...
Three of my favourite designers and the polka dot is great! So many wonderful things to see today and very generous people giving it away!
I started sewing as a young girl, but I just got into quilting in the last few years, after seeing the beautiful quilts my mother makes.
Love the fattie quarters!!! oxoxxo thrift store sewing machine and making hippty clothes as a youngster
What wonderful fabrics! They need to come glam up my fabric stash! I actually started sewing again about 2 years ago, and I credit sewmamasew for inspiring me!
I can't remember when I learned to sew. Seems like I just always have. I'd love to add those FQs to my stash. Thanks
I was fortunate to be brought up in a family that is crafting oriented. Sewing and embroidery seems to be what I am focusing on right now.
Lovely fabrics! I became interested in quilting because of all the quilts my grandmother had made. My mom taught me sewing and embroidery when I was young.
What a great giveaway! Thanks for the chance to win :)
I got started sewing because I wanted to make felt food for my daughter, it sort of snowballed from there :)
mum taught me how to sew, not very original I know but still true.
Love the fabrics! Loving give away day :-)
Self taught quilter with a lot of blogs and you tube videos! The fabric you are giving away is soooo pretty!
I'm pretty much self-taught. My mom tried to teach me when I was younger, but that was a disaster.
Fabulous! My mom tried desperately to interest me in sewing when I was younger, but it didn't take. Now I have kiddos of my own, and have been teaching myself to sew things for them. I started out with little toys and finger puppets, and have recently graduated to clothing. Yay!

I started taking a quilting class 14 years ago, because I wanted to make a baby quilt for the baby that I wanted so badly. Well, baby didn't arrive until last year! We were blessed with a healthy baby girl in October. Now I can make endless amounts of quilts for her! Thanks for offering this giveaway!
What a great giveaway! I am self taught but I come from generations of quilters so maybe its hereditary?! =)

My mom taught me to sew, and she never yelled at me even though I was constantly forgetting to hold the threads while I started and making huge thread tangles in her machine. <3 you Mom!
