I so enjoy Giveaway Day, don't you!?

I'm giving away 4 fat quarters. They include Amy Butler's Love, Heather Bailey's Fresh Cut, Denyse Schmidt's Hope Valley, and one of my all time favorites Judie Rothermel's Polka Dots from Aunt Grace's scrapbag.

Just leave a comment and I'll use random generator to pick the winner. For fun tell me how you got interested in quilting, sewing, etc. Who taught you or how you learned. Just for my enjoyment, but it's not necessary, any comment will do.

Have fun today with all these fabulous giveaways! Good Luck!

Oh, I think I am the first (but I simply can't resist!). I got started on my own because as a child I couldn't afford to buy myself a bag :) And so ever since I was 9 years old I have been making bags (and later clothing as well but bags are my real passion)

Lovely fabric. So, I have always been interested in quilting but have yet to make one. I currently have a bundle of fabric and am just about ready to pull the trigger. As for sewing, my mom taught me and I do as much as I can with two little boys running around the house.

Thank you for the lovely giveaway!
My mum definitely got me interested in sewing, although not until I was in my late teens, really. I quite enjoyed it as a young child, but then secondary school textiles classes completely killed the joy from it for me!

Unknown said...

Love them! I have always loved quilting - I've only recently started myself and it's a learning process but I have very fond memories of sitting under the many quilts my grandmother's group worked on when I was a kid. Its one of my favourite memories of her and the one thing that I associate very strongly with her=quilting. I could definitely incorporate these wonderful fabrics into my projects.

great giveaway! I sewed a little in high school - I took a sewing class. Then I started to sew again a couple years ago after a trip to Liberia Africa. While I was there I became friends who was a tailor for a living and I loved the fabric lappas there. So I bought a bunch of lappas and vowed to make a quilt with it to remember my time there. I have not made the quilt but I have made many other things since then and I am so glad I picked it back up.

I was 19 and moved in with my boyfriend/fiance. His mom was a SERIOUS seamstress. Sewing was her love and everything else in life was just second to creating beautiful stuff. I was an art student at the time and it was the first time in my life, surrounded by women who sewed, that I saw sewing as AN ART FORM.
I was hooked. It's an art form that you can pick up and put down, you don't have to be in a specific mood, get out a million paints, or spritz your clay. It's just there, and it's just fun.

I learned to sew a few years ago by taking lessons from a sweetheart of a lady. The kind of lady I'd like to be when I get older - not bitter, not demanding, but always giving of herself and her resources and her time. I didn't really even want to learn to sew. I honestly thought I would hate it, I only agreed to take lessons from her because I wanted to spend time with her. But I fell in love with sewing and can't seem to stop. My blog is named after her.

I actually told myself - very firmly - I was not going to take up quilting. I have enough other hobbies to neglect, after all. But then I found a link to Oh, Fransson's quilt-a-long through PatternReview.com and... yeah.

Gorgeous FQs!

I first learned to sew as a teenager from my Mum - but I wasn't very good at it and gave up pretty quickly. About 5 years ago my Mum bought me a sewing machine for my birthday and I fell in love with sewing again and haven't looked back!

thanks for sharing your giveaway

I love each of those! I got more interested in quilting when I stumbled across cluckclucksew.com one day.

Very generous giveaway! I actually started sewing about a year ago just because I thought it looked fun. I got a cheap little sewing machine and have been teaching myself from online tutorials mostly. I even made a scrub top (my proudest moment so far!) I really have been enjoying learning to quilt but recently I've been really getting into small household type items like potholders.

I'm a quilter and a sewer of "little things" like journal covers and wallets (donations to a holiday sale at my library). I learned to sew on my grandmother's treadle machine back when we took Home Economics in 7th grade. My mom made many of my clothes. Quilting became part of my life about 15 yrs. ago. And now I'm very taken with the modern quilts made with bright colors, solids, polka dots, large prints, etc.--after living and breathing tone-on-tone muted fabrics. Thanks for your giveaway; I'll be back to see your quilts.

I started sewing very recently, so that I can share a hobby with my mother.

Lovely fabrics. Are you taking international entries? I don't know how I got interested in crafts. I've been doing them so long that I don't remember how I got started!

I was a self taught quilter some 30 years ago. As a newly married, I wanted to make things as gifts for others (thought it was cheaper...yikes and my time back then was at a premium with a new baby!) Anyway, from magazines I got the gist of things and traced templates and cut things out with scissors. Fast forward to pregnant with my sixth and need a night out! I took an adult ed class and was I ever bowled over with the rotary cutter! Ordered one the next day!!!! Haven't turned back unless I REALLY HAVE TO!!!!!!!

Can't have to much fabric can you?? It's in the blood. My mum has a quilting room full of fabrics. And my daughter collects little bits of fabric scraps...

I was fortunate to be brought up in a family that is crafting oriented. Sewing and embroidery seems to be what I am focusing on right now.

Lovely fabrics! I became interested in quilting because of all the quilts my grandmother had made. My mom taught me sewing and embroidery when I was young.

What a great giveaway! Thanks for the chance to win :)

I got started sewing because I wanted to make felt food for my daughter, it sort of snowballed from there :)

I'm pretty much self-taught. My mom tried to teach me when I was younger, but that was a disaster.

Fabulous! My mom tried desperately to interest me in sewing when I was younger, but it didn't take. Now I have kiddos of my own, and have been teaching myself to sew things for them. I started out with little toys and finger puppets, and have recently graduated to clothing. Yay!

I started taking a quilting class 14 years ago, because I wanted to make a baby quilt for the baby that I wanted so badly. Well, baby didn't arrive until last year! We were blessed with a healthy baby girl in October. Now I can make endless amounts of quilts for her! Thanks for offering this giveaway!

My mom taught me to sew, and she never yelled at me even though I was constantly forgetting to hold the threads while I started and making huge thread tangles in her machine. <3 you Mom!
