Hi! Wow, thank you for a great give away! That is really fantastic shop - full of beautiful fabrics! I was watching and fancying long time all the wonderful fabrics that my hb's shirts were made of! He really has to many of them! Now and then they have 'some accidents' and I thought they would make lovely quilt. I have made now lots of different patchworks and some quilts but the one where I have used shirts is still waiting the quilting.

Oh wow, that's the first time I've seen Tuxedo! It's beautiful. I also wish I could enter the FB giveaway, but don't have FB. =) Thanks for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteVery nice fabrics! I love the quilted castle. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I started sewing at the encouragement from my grandma, who taught me the basics and gave me her sewing machine, an old black Singer I used for several years before getting my own new machine. I think of her often as I stitch away!
ReplyDeleteYay- love sponsors :) I wanted to learn to make a waldorf doll and that prompted me to teach myself to sew :)!! The quilting frenzy began about a year later :)
ReplyDeleteSponsor love!! It's a great shop. I'm just hanging out with my coffee and checking out my blogs before I get some work done. Have a great Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteI started quilting about 8 years ago. I had wanted to learn how to quilt for a long time. When I was recovering from cancer, it was a great time to spend my time doing something I had always wanted to do!
ReplyDeleteMy grandma inspired me to start quilting and am loving my new hobby!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win some of this beautiful fabric!
ReplyDeleteI start quilting a few years ago, with the encouragement of my sister-in-law and her 9 year old niece, who had just made her first quilt. I told myself if she can do it so can I ~ they bought me my first cutting matt and rotary cutter for Christmas, that was 3 years ago! And I'm so happy they did :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the give away :) The fabrics are fabulous!
I decided to start quilting after receiving an amazing quilt made by my aunt.
ReplyDeleteI started sewing when I was 9 - I did 4-H with a lot of my friends. I made my first quilt when I was 19. It was a blue and yellow double Irish chain and I loved it. It's gotten worse in the last 3 or 4 years once I discovered the online quilting world.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway - that fabric is lovely!
My mom got me started years ago, but then life intervened and I took a break. Seeing modern quilts and fabrics on the internet a few years ago got me re-started in quilting!
ReplyDeletesteeplechaser29 at yahoo dot com
I began learning how to quilt for the last year. Yep, a newbie! I LOVE it though! I love this black and white and gray fabric! Thanks for such a great blog!!! :o)
ReplyDeleteMu mum has always sewn and she bought a part work called Golden Hands in the 70s which featured hexagons. I made my first quilt from dress fabric and I still have it somewhere.
ReplyDeleteA pin on Pintrest actually got me quilting. I always thought that quilts had to be old fashioned looking and I have a more modern aesthetic, but once I saw that pin, and realized it was just another way to play with fabric I got the quilting bug. I am currently working on my very first quilt and quite enjoying the process!
ReplyDeleteHey...OK just kidding. I have been quilting forever. My Great Grandmother was crazy about it and I grew up with quilts before it was 'popular'. We ALWAYS knew how much work went into making a quilt. Thanx for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to quilt, ever since I was a teenager. I said when my youngest son started kindergarten in 1988 that I was going to start...it took me 15 years after that to finally start! Now I can't be stopped.
ReplyDeleteI began quilting when I was pregnant with my first child -- I blame it on the hormones and that nesting intstinct. I started with a baby quilt and 26 years later I'm still at it and enjoying every minute of sewing!
ReplyDeleteI was inspired to learn to quilt when a new friend offered to teach us. Once I started - I was hooked!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this great giveaway!
I started quilting a little less than a year ago. In December of 2010 my youngest Son passed away. I needed something to occupy my hands and mind so I created DanNy boy quilts. My son was an amazing artist and I wanted to create something in his memory. He also gave the best bear hugs and a quilt is like a hug. I stitch a hug into the corner of every quilt I make. I hope he is proud of each and every quilt I have made. They have given comfort to me and the people I made them for.
ReplyDeleteI'd been sewing since I was a small child making doll clothes when at 36 I was expecting my first child and she needed a quilt. That first quilt was just 3 layers, no borders and tied. It was pretty basic. When my brother asked what I'd like for Christmas that year I said a gift certificate to get a book and proper supplies to learn how to quilt! I've been quilting since, by the way that first book was Fons and Porter's Quilter's Complete Guide.
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting since April this year. Although I've been carrying this idea the last couple of years, the obsession became really intense when my third child was born, and when he turned 6 months old I could no longer resist and gave in. And never looked back ever since! Thank you for the opportunity and happy holidays
ReplyDeleteOh! Thanks for the heads up on your new sponsor! Love your fabric choices. I originally started quilting when my niece was born 6 years ago - I wanted to make her a baby blanket of her favorite baby clothes. Of course, her mom didn't save any of them but I have since made her plenty of minky-backed quilts for both her & her dolls. Just another reason to thank her for being born (besides being the coolest funniest little person I know!)
ReplyDeleteOh what a wonderful give-away! I'm a new follower of your blog. I just love the birdie quilts. They are just darling!
ReplyDeleteHallie
Nice giveaway! I just love to sew. Over the years I haven't done many quilts, but I sure have made a little of many things.

ReplyDeleteI have never shopped at the Quilted Castle but have been looking for a place to buy a fat quarter bundle of Echo. I think I see a Christmas present in my future.
This is such a great line! A lot of women in my family quilt, but I didn't start until I was out of school and had more time and money. But I really started to ramp up the sewing after I started reading blogs!

ReplyDeleteWell I've been intrigued by a gray and orange quilt I saw on pinterest so these fabric would definitely be the beginning of one for myself. Great sponsor!
ReplyDeleteI really don't recall what it was about quilting that has gripped me so. I do have a passion for fibre arts, handwork, functional art, handwork with a rich and varied history ... just everything about quilting represents love, care, warmth, creativity, and resourcefulness. I love it ... historical ... traditional ... modern ... artsy ... skilled ... rustic ... I love them all!
ReplyDeleteI started sewing because I saw my sis making some beautiful things!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway. I am new to quitling and trying to build a stash!
ReplyDeleteI started sewing because I find joy in making my own things and I knew sewing could only add to that desire.
ReplyDeleteI started quilting over 25 years ago and am a true fabric lover. Love this bundle! Merry Christmas to you & yours!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely giveaway! I started quilting when we moved to the Seattle area because everybody said it rains all the time (shhh..it doesn't) and I thought quilting would be a good indoor cozy rain outside activity.
ReplyDeleteBlack and white and gray - my granddaughter's favorite colors! That must be an omen!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the very generous giveaway!
My grand'mere was a terrific seamstress--she even made men's white shirts and suits!! At any rate, she used a featherweight machine and when I was really young let me sew with her scraps for my dollies...such fun. She really gave me my love of fabric...Julierose
ReplyDeleteThese are very pretty. I don't have a lot of black, white or grey in my stash.
ReplyDeleteThanks for giveaway. I started quilting when there was a batch of nephews and nieces being born. fun gifts to make.

ReplyDeleteHey, I was inspired by a great aunt when I was a little girl.
ReplyDeleteAwesome giveaway! Thanks for the chance. I inspired myself to sew, given that I'm the type to try new crafts! hehe
ReplyDeleteA friend got me to attend a Saturday Sampler class. At the time, I wasn't sure I'd be interested. Now I'm totally hooked!
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother, who died when I was 8, was my inspiration to start quilting. The one thing I had of hers was two quilts that she made. It took me until about 3 years ago (I'm 49) to get started but it was the right time for me.
ReplyDeleteI heart that fabric. It is so so so cute. Thank you for the giveaway and thank you to the Quilted Castle. Michelleleejensen at live.com
ReplyDeleteI first started sewing garments in jr high school. After my second baby was born I started quilting as a hobby. I needed something to do while I was home with 2 little boys.
ReplyDeleteGreat fabric!! Thanks for the chance to win!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway, thank you!
ReplyDeleteI got started quilting in a strange way. I paint a lot of pottery, and I saw this piece someone made that mimicked quilting. I gave it a go and really liked how it looked, but realized that I wanted it to look more realistic. So I started reading a bunch of blogs and doing research online, and the next thing I knew I wasn't painting much pottery because I was using all my free time to make quilts. :)
Thanks for the chance to win!
Thanks for giveaway
ReplyDeleteMy late grandmother sewed but I didn't learn from her, but now that I have discovered quilting I feel close to her & it's a lovely thing. The Quilted Castle is a great online shop, I love their range & they have terrific customer service. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love the Quilted Castle, they have terrific fabrics and the international shipping is fairly priced (a must for me).

ReplyDeletemodernpatchwork4u@gmail.com
The fabrics are just beautiful, thanks for this great giveaway! I'm a new follower, your blog is so inspiring. I've been making handiwork since I was a little girl, but after sleeping under a quilt I knew that was I wanted to make!
ReplyDeleteI started quilting about 11 years ago when I retired from work. I enjoyed watching my friends quilt, and wanted to have a go at it, so I did, and am still going.
ReplyDeleteElaine
My Grandma from the Ukraine quilted & I wanted to be just like her! I wish she could see some of my quilts. I often think of how amazed she'd be at the stuff we take for granted like rotory cutters & mats ....
ReplyDeleteI started quilting when I was 15 and had injured my back. Stuck at home, decided to use some of my mom's scraps for a basic triangle quilt. Still have it packed away. Now years later quilting is still my passion. I love the Tuxedo fabrics by Riley Blake. Black and white would make such a classy quilt.
ReplyDeleteLove making quilts and started about 10 years ago after taking a couple of classes. That got me started--and I'm always looking for cool fabric to use. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteVery nice fabrics! I know the quilted castle. Thanks for the chance to win!

ReplyDeleteOddly enough, all the pictures of quilts in Country Living magazine got me pursuing quilting. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI started quilting because I found the most awesome quilt shop had opened down the road about a mile from my office. I had to drive by every day and I got curious about what it was so I went inside and that is all she wrote. I then spent the next two years that I worked going to the shop four or five times a week on my lunch hour. Now I am retired and the shop is 20 miles a way but I still get there three or four times a week and she hired me to work fill in. So I work there a couple days a month. That is my story and I am sticking to it!
ReplyDeleteEvery summer we visit familly in a small Minnesota town where quilting is a way of life. Every year I would come home inspired to try my hand. I might make it to the quilting store, where I would be overwhelmed and go home empty handed. During our visit last summer, in conjuction with my husband's high school reunion, there was a quilt show. So many beautiful quilts! I was so inspired! We came home, I bought some fabric and three months later I had made my firt quiilt! It's on our bed right now and I love it. I've since finished another throw and am about to start on a my nest project. I love it...and I love this blog and others who have taught me so much. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMy mother has been making amazing quilts for years but lives too far away for her to teach me. On a whim I stopped at a local quilt shops and asked if they had any beginner classes, and they had one starting the next week on the only night in my schedule that it would fit! I was hooked from day one!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win these beautiful FQ's!
A picture in some random magazine was all it took to hook me. I started quilting using cardboard cutouts as templates! I wouldn't know what to do without my rotary cutter, mat & rulers today! :o)
ReplyDeleteHey, love your blog, it's just my style :)
ReplyDeleteI can't remember what started my off, I think it's seeing amazing fabrics then making something out of them that no-one (even me) can believe that I made! x

ReplyDeleteI was inspired to sew by my grandmother whose hands were always busy making something - whether it be crochet, knitting or sewing! Love the black and grey fabrics:)
ReplyDeleteQuilting, well needlework, I guess, is in my blood. My mom taught me knitting, crocheting, embroidery when I was young, my dad sold Singer sewing machines for a time, my grandmother did patchwork, so it was inevitable. And I'm so glad that it was.
ReplyDeleteOver fifty years ago I had a great aunt who would encourage me to make clothes for my dollies. We would send in 15 cents to the Wright Co. (trims) and they would send me a manilla envelope filled with wonderful scrap trims.
ReplyDeleteReading these blogs, including yours, has inspired me to learn how to sew. I love love love the black and white patterns.
ReplyDeleteI had never run across the Quilted Castle before, but I'm definitely going back for a better look once I post this comment - LOVE the fabrics you highlighted!
ReplyDeleteI've been sewing clothes since I was 12 - and making clothing always leaves you with scraps.... Now, some scraps are big enough to make into something else, but the smaller ones don't work so well. So, quilting took care of that! Mind you, I didn't start quilting until about 10 years ago - and now I usually start with a brand new piece of yardage, but there's always a scrappy quilt in the background somewhere - and it's waiting for just a few more bits of fabric....!
My granddaughter is only 3 but she has a sense of color and design that makes this math teacher's heart swell with pride. I have her first design made with pattern blocks and hope to made a quilt for her using it. Thank you for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of the Quilted Castle but I surely will go there and look around.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!!
My mom always loved quilts. She would talk about them as if they were the most beautiful things, but would say they are so difficult, complicated and time consuming that she couldn't/wouldn't do it. I naturally grew up believeing this, but when I was expecting our first child, I decided I wanted to make my baby girl one, regardless! With all the modern methods, it wasn't so bad, and I have been hooked ever since!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab giveaway! I have always been crafty, but I really got in to sewing after the birth of my daughter! I am completely addicted!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!

ReplyDeleteI decided to quilt because of all the blogs I read, they look so pretty, and I have a sewing machine, so why not? lol
ReplyDeleteI have been sewing most of my life. I remember being around 7 or 8, sewing my Barbie clothes. I turned to quilting a few years ago and have built my "stash" up. I'm always looking for more wonderful fabric. There are so many ideas wondering around my head of quilts to make and projects to do. The fabric is so pretty. Thanks for the great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to learn to quilt as long as I can remember. One of my grandmothers was an avid anything crafty including quilting kind of gal, and I inherited a bunch of fabric stash. I finally took a table runner class when I was unemployed and joined a couple quilt alongs online a couple years ago. I'm so glad I did!
ReplyDeleteI love this site. I just spent ages looking and ordering. I just lost the first part, gotta go back.
ReplyDeleteOh! Thank you for a fabulous giveaway! My mom always sewed, so I think I knew all along I'd be sewing, too..just didn't know what I'd be sewing! I was mostly interested in craft type sewing projects. I recently started quilting and I LOVE it! I'm pretty slow and I'm terrible at fabric selection for quilts! I always second guess myself. Thank goodness for charm packs and fq bundles! lol I'm always inspired and in awe by the fab pictures on flickr!
ReplyDeleteblack and white can be added to any color path and have stunning results
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother passed her love of sewing and knitting to me when I was but a little girl. She's been gone now for a long time but I still have the fondest memories of sharing special times with her! I also have the 'gift' of hoarding fabric, just as she did. I love to look at it and feel it...it's never enough!!
ReplyDeletei have long been lusting after that egg print from Pear Tree!! my first contact with sewing was hearing my mom's machine whirring away as i awoke from my nap as a wee one. my mom would steal a few more moments of crafting time by giving me a big dull darning needle, colorful embroidery thread, and muslin scraps. i loved randomly "quilting" the pieces together!
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful blog and I enjoy visiting. I was inspired to quilt when my sister bought me a beautiful fat quarter bundle by Red Rooster fabrics just a few months ago. I made a quilt with it and am working on my second quilt. Thank you for the chance to win some beautiful fabric.
