Back To School Birdie Give Away...
School is starting. Daily routines are being carved out. There's a hint in the air of the cooler weather to come. I think it's time for a give away. Don't you?
I'm calling this little birdie quilt "Mending". The fabrics are the warmer and autumnesque (is that a word?) Flea Market Fancy prints. Mending reminds me of getting things together and falling back in line and repairing or recuperating from summer.
I've also decided to reopen my etsy shop (in the near future) and list my birdie quilts. I have a really hard time parting with handmade items for money. I much prefer swapping or giving them away. But with that being said, there is a time and place for everything and I'm going to take a chance and see what comes from it.
Also on my mind is a swap. A charm swap. I'm thinking of something like "Something Vintage, Something Modern". More details on that later, when I actually have some details on it :)
Still working on tutorials for the paper pieced Kitchen Aid mixer block and the wonky sashing Little Apples Quilt, which will now be called the Topsy Turvy Little Apples Quilt thanks to my friend Leslie! I think that is more fitting than wonky, don't you?!
Alright, so enough gibba jabba. Do you want the "Mending" little birdie quilt? Leave a comment by midnight Tuesday September 6th and I'll announce the winner Wednesday morning September 7th. Which is perfect because Wednesday is mending day!!! That's for all you Little House lovers out there :)
Oh, I am such a Little House fan! I read the entire series in 2nd grade and several times since!! I adore your birdy and would love to hang it in my house! Good luck with your shop!
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling little quilt! I used to have "day of the week" tea towels..and Wednesday was mending day. I love a chance to win this little cutie.

I've been admiring every one of your birdies Erin and this is my favorite!! To think I would have a chance to win it is unbelievable - how could you part with it? Love your work.
ReplyDeleteIt's adorable! I would love to win it!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your etsy shop. I have a hard time selling things for what they're 'worth' ... time, etc. I normally give things away or sell them for cost of materials.
Have a great week and ps, I love your mixer! I have never paper pieced, but might try it one of these days. =)
I love your birdie quilts!!! i hope that soon you will bring out a pattern for them all so that everyone can enjoy making them, and having a little birdie near by to keep them chirpie!!
ReplyDeleteI loved Little House and adore your little birdie quilt. Adorable. I am sure your Etsy shop will do so well. Your creativity and style is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderful chance to win.

ReplyDeleteAwwww, I haven't read the Little House books since I was a kid, but I often think of them when I'm quilting, and the quilt Ma made on the prairie from scraps and old clothes. I really must read them again!
ReplyDeleteHow sensible to have a mending day- if I mend on Wednesdays, I might not have the imposing Mending Pile! Your birdie has inspired me, I'd love it to fly over the seas to keep me company ;)
This would make me happy every day! I would hang it in my craft room! LOVE IT!

ReplyDeleteI would love to have this to decorate my sewing room. I adore sewing themed fabrics. The only collection that rivals it is my coffee themed fabric. Sewing and quilting has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. The love of the needle was passed down from my mother. Are you going to post the pattern?
