Little Joys Quilt Along ~ Finishing

We've reached the last week for the Little Joys Quilt Along with Fat Quarter Shop. The finishing instructions are available for download on their Jolły Jabber blog. I enjoyed playing with these beautiful fabrics by Elea Lutz. Here is my finished quilt! I am so pleased with how it turned out. For quilting I did a free motion figure eight kind of thing. It reminded me of Christmas lights on a string. I can't wait to hang this up. Would now be to soon? Hehe.

I had a nice bit of the green backing fabric from the kit Fat Quarter Shop has for this quilt. I used some to cut 1.5 inch strips, folded in half and basted to the front before binding, to add just a little something special to the quilt. I really like how it turned out. I think it just encases the blocks and makes it cozy looking.

It seemed funny to be taking pictures of a Christmas quilt the sweltering heat! But I suppose that's how it is for many of our friends in different parts of the world during Christmas. There was a little breeze under the trees out of the sun.

Here is a super sunny shot from out under the trees. Definitely Christmas in July! Please check out the Jolly Jabber blog for more info on the quilt along. This quilt really was a "Little Joy" to make.

  3. Erin...I've done the little piece of fabric inside the binding (wish I knew what to call it) thing on a few quilts and it does really add something extra. As it does on your quilt. And, it's an easy thing to do. YAY for you! Love your Little Joys quilt. Christmas in July, indeed! Ho Ho Ho!!! xo
