I came across a tutorial the other day for this really adorable pleated pouch. It's called the "Susie" pouch and it's on the blog pattydoo.
I made this pouch first, following the directions, except I think my interfacing was not stiff enough because my pouch has some slouch :) I used my much loved (and hoarded) Sew Cherry fabric by Lori Holt for the body and Swiss Dots in red on white for inside of the pleats.
I made this one next with a stiffer (more stiff) interfacing. I didn't box the corners and I really like it but after I sewed up the bottom two pouches with the proper interfacing I think I need to go back and box the corners on this one. It just adds a whole nother ( like that grammer, hehe) of adorability (again the red squiggle is saying that's not a word). I placed the trim differently from the tutorial too. I love these Pam Kitty prints and I thought they all looked great together. So, of course, I had to make more!!!
Pam Kitty periwinkle and yellow print are from Sew Me a Song
Pam Kitty green with polka dots is from Donna's Lavender Nest
This was the next one. If you are on Instagram and get my posts then you may have seen what I did on this pouch. I forgot to open my zipper when I was in the finishing stage. I was using a longer zipper too. So when it came time to trim my edges I just completely wacked off my zipper... pull and all! Again, I used a Pam Kitty print for the body and for the inside of the pleats I used Swiss Dots in lime and the green gingham is Riley Blake too.
Pam Kitty pink with wreaths I got from Simply Sweet Fabric but I think she may have sold out. You can still find it at Donna's Lavender Nest.
Last, but not least, I made this pouch. My daughter LOVES this one. I used yet another Pam Kitty print for the body, the dots are from Tasha Noels the Simple Life line and the red gingham is Riley Blake. I crocheted the trim for these last two pouches and then attached it by sewing it between the body and the top piece.
Pam Kitty green floral is from Donna's Lavender Nest.
and The Simple Life pink and red polka dots are from Donna's also.
The red gingham I got from Simply Sweet Fabric.
I'm sure I'll be making more. All the possible fabric combinations are so fun! I think they will make cute little gifts and they sew up lickety split!
Also the winner of the Southern Fabric gift card was Jean Burke! Congrats Jean! Enjoy! Thanks to all of you who commented.
I hope you all have a lovely week!
Happy Sewing!

:: Catching Up ::
Well, I didn't plan on being away from the blog for so long. I wanted to drop in and say hi and show you a couple of things I made recently. If you follow my feed on Instagram then you probably saw my progress on these. I used Amy's tutorial again. For this one I cross stitched a little strawberry for the center. I love it!!!
I used one of my very favorite prints for the back. You can find this fabric here. I'm really happy with the way this one turned out. It's so cute.
I've always liked this Nosegay or Bride's Bouquet block. I decided to make one after seeing this one on Flickr. I hand pieced the block making the set-in seams very easy and doable. I like that I have better control, by hand sewing, when I am doing more "technical" stuff. I can really see what I am doing. I tried some free motion scallops for the quilting. I drew the first few rows of scallops but I felt much more comfortable just winging it.
Again, I used one of my favorite prints for the back. I bought this years ago and don't know if you can still find it. The selvedge says "antique treasures". I could see making a whole quilt with these blocks using lots of different feedsack fabrics. That would be pretty.
Well I hope you all are having a great week!
