:: Pretties in the Mail ::

Hello! I hope you are all are having a great day. Mine started out a little different. It's a long story. It involved a possum and me. All survived but I'm a little afraid to go outside, hahaha! Sometimes I wonder if I'm really cut out for this country stuff :)

Then I received this beautiful package from Heather of Vintage Grey today and I completely forgot about the possum, well almost. Isn't it all gorgeous?! The packaging was even beautiful! Her handmades are incredible. So much attention to detail. So well-made! Heather is the one who totally inspired the crocheted edges I put on some of the things I make. I'm also super excited because she is restocking and opening up her shoppe again today! I love seeing all of the vintagey things she makes.

Thanks so much, Heather! Everything is perfect, so sweet and pretty! and thanks for always being such a  sweet and encouraging friend.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

:: My Amy Butler Sophia Carry All ::

Hi there! I hope you all had a nice Mother's Day weekend. Mine was great! We took some time to unplug and unwind a bit. I FINALLY made The Sophia Carry All from Amy Butler's pattern. I've had the pattern for years and have pulled it out several times and then put it away.  I cut the pattern pieces out long ago and had some of Amy's Midwest Modern fabric I was planning to use for it. Then while searching for tips and such for the carry all I came across this Weekender bag that My Sewcial Hour made a few years ago. It was gorgeous, I fell in love with the fabrics, and I knew I wanted to make my bag with them.

This bag is a lot of work and I took the suggestions of some of the people who had made it by cutting the pieces one day and sewing another day. There is A LOT of interfacing in this project. I found the directions to be very straight forward and the diagrams were great. I love the way she has you install the zipper. That was fun. Some people left the piping on the bottom panel off but I kept it. I really like the way it looks. And although there are lots of layers to sew through, and mine did not turn out great, I am happy with it. My lining was a little (a lot) saggy too. But still happy with it! Another thing I modified was to make the handles longer so I could carry it over my shoulder.

This bag holds so much, too! I think it is supposed to be a travel bag and companion to The Weekender Bag. I am using it as my everyday bag / purse. I'm a mama of 4. I keep a lot of stuff in my purse so this bag is great!

Sew Together Bag

Over Easter, when my mom was visiting, I made her a sew together bag (which I did not get one single picture of). I pulled the fabrics and prepped all of the pieces for my bag but that was as far as I got. This weekend  I had the chance to sew my bag together. I think it is adorable!

It's a gloomy overcast day today but I had to try to get pictures of it. I added a little patchwork and hand quilting to the exterior of the bag.

My daughter said it looks like a candy store! love that!

I plan on using it for my sewing stuff. But I can see it being used for so many things. It's really roomy inside and I'm always fond of lots of pockets.

Aren't these tiny pins so cute?!

I also added this pretty little patch just because :)

I will definitely be making more of these. Pulling fabric for them is just too fun with so many possibilities.

Happy sewing!

☆ Country Girls Stars Quilt ☆

Last week I finished this Country Girls mini quilt I made for my girls' room. I've been wanting to post about it since then but we all have been under the weather at our house. Sore throats and stomach bugs. Yuck. I hope we are on the mend. My mom is visiting and should be here today! I told her maybe she shouldn't come but she wouldn't hear of it. I hope she doesn't get sick. I've Lysoled, bleached, Purelled my heart out, so I'm hoping we're good.

Anyway, I am loving this mini!!! I fussy-cut the Country Girls from this fabric. Then I used some Country Girls fabric along with some others from Tasha Noel. All of which I got from Shay at Simply Sweet Fabric.  I added some Strawberry Fields, April Showers, Scrumptious and Flea Market Fancy. The colors all went well together and I love the scrappy look.

I hand quilted around each star and that was all. I may add more quilting around the edge near the binding and in the space where the four corners of the blocks meet. I just haven't yet. I love the center block. The little girl feeding the ducks reminded my 4 year old of herself feeding her ducks. She loves the quilt and can't wait to have it on her wall. I have to paint first. I hope to do that while my mom visits. We shall see :)

Have a great weekend! Stay healthy...wash your hands!!!
