Great Granny Sew Along and Book Giveaway!!!
Hello! Welcome to the Great Granny Sew Along!
Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet wrote another wonderful book called Great Granny Squared. We are going to be making a cute sampler called Mama's Crochet Quilt. Additional tips and instructions are provided for the sampler each week.
The PDF for this week's Filled Basket Block is HERE.
I enjoyed making this super cute block! It goes together so nicely. Pulling fabric for this one was fun, too.
I love the theme of the quilt! I enjoy crocheting and I really love the idea of combining the two.
The Great Granny Squared flickr group can be found HERE. Once you make your Filled Basket Block, upload a picture to the group to be entered into a giveaway for a pair of Sullivan's 4" Heirloom Embroidery Scissors and a pack of Clover Point Protectors.
You will also need a copy of Lori's book. You can purchase it HERE and
*** I am also giving away a copy right here on my blog. Just leave a comment below and I'll pick a winner Wednesday~April 23, 2014 and have it shipped to you in time to make the Filled Basket Block and be ready for next week's block!!!
HERE is a list of the blocks and bloggers for each week!
Have fun!!!
Happy Sewing!

☆ Country Girls Stars Quilt ☆
Anyway, I am loving this mini!!! I fussy-cut the Country Girls from this fabric. Then I used some Country Girls fabric along with some others from Tasha Noel. All of which I got from Shay at Simply Sweet Fabric. I added some Strawberry Fields, April Showers, Scrumptious and Flea Market Fancy. The colors all went well together and I love the scrappy look.
Have a great weekend! Stay healthy...wash your hands!!!
Happy Sewing!

Alphabitties ~ How I'm Using Them
I got these cute little Alphabitties from Fat Quarter Shop.
I've been using them for my Briar Rose quilt. They work great with the Clover Wonder Clips. They are much cuter than the scraps of paper I used to use for keeping track of my rows and I don't poke myself with pins.
Of course, the kids like them too!
a lot!
Yup, she thinks they are hers! I think I might get another pack and attach magnets to the back of them for our school whiteboard. They are just too cute!

A Pretty Potholder
I finally got around to making a potholder using Amy's tutorial. The tutorial is great. I added a crocheted trim instead of the ruffle that Amy uses. I also just cut my binding on the crosswise grain instead of the bias. I had enough stretch for the binding to wrap around the curves nicely. My quilting is a little wonky or what I like to call "organic" :)
I will definitely be making more of these. They are so cute and there are so many quilting and design ideas to make them all different. I'll be making some of these for Christmas gifts for sure. This one is going away to my swap partner along with this coaster.
Hope all is well where you are.

Happy Friday!
Just popping in to say I hope you have a lovely weekend! I finished this little coaster for a swap I'm doing on Instagram. I have some weekend sewing plans.
I hope to get to play with these lovelies!!!
I got them from Sew Me a Song. Becca has such a fabulous selection of Japanese and text prints. I can find prints from some of my favorite designers, Atsuko Matsuyama and Suzuko Koseki, in her shop too! This shop is such a gem and I have spent hours eying up all of the pretties!
I am really excited that the 2nd round of the cocrico bee has started and these prints are perfect to add to my stash for the paper pieced blocks I will make for my bee mates.
Happy Sewing!
