I finished the top for my friends wedding quilt. I used Katy's strip pieced tutorial but with fat quarters so I could make a variety of sets with fewer blocks because this is a smallish quilt. I was excited to lay these blocks out but when I started I just couldn't get a layout I liked. I finally decided on this diagonal layout of green, yellow, blue, green, yellow, blue etc... kind of... the blue block in the bottom corner should probably be yellow but I like the blue.. and looking at it now I think I could have definitely used more red but I'm happy with it. I have some Granny Squares left over that I will use on the back. Then I have to decide on quilting and binding. Any suggestions???

I'd bind in green! And I want to use baptist/amish fans on my quilt!
Gorgeous! Why not add your extra red in the binding? I did a granny square lap quilt where I did hand stitching around each square in the color of the center cross. Pretty, but it took forever...
It looks lovely. These granny quilts have been on my to do list! I woke up this morning wondering what i could do with a jelly roll to make a quilt for my Mum for Mothers Day (in 2wks in Oz) besides a basic strip quilt. I wonder whether you could use a jelly roll for a granny square quilt....
Your Quilt is Gorgeous I think anyone of the fabrics you have used would suit for Binding...

Beautiful!!! May I ask how "easy" this is and if it's beginner/intermediate user-friendly? :) I would bind it in a green, and for quilting I think stitching in the ditch on the squares would look nice, and then perhaps free-hand quilt the borders (if that made any sense!). But you may not want my advice since I am a beginner! LOL

Red or scrappy binding and for me it would be simple lines quilting to let squares shine.
It looks great, and I'd use a yellow or green binding :o)

The quilt is gorgeous! One binding idea is to find a striped fabric with the colors in your quilt and use that as binding. (You can cut strips from selvage to selvage for a straight sided quilt and have a striped binding.)

I absolutely love this quilt! There isn't a thing I would change about it. As far as the backing...I know you will make something great.
So pretty! If you wish you had more red I would bind it in red. As for quilting I think I would handquilt around each granny with a big stitch and complementary floss color to each granny.
Hi Erin. Maybe you could peruse the flickr group to get quilting ideas. I saw one done in wavy horizontal lines that looked fabulous.
